Advanced Tennis Academy
The Westfield Tennis Club is excited to again offer its Advanced Tennis Academy (ATA), held every summer for junior members interested in preparing for the next level of competitive tennis. Directed by Bob Bynum, a tremendously talented tennis pro and highly respected coach, and led by a team of skilled and personable staff, the Academy challenges players to improve their technical skills, learn advanced tactics and strategies, and boost strength and conditioning. At the end of the summer, program participants will be better prepared—both physically and mentally—to vie against even the toughest competitors at the high school, regional, and national levels. The Westfield Tennis Club’s Advanced Tennis Academy has produced dozens of accomplished high school and collegiate players.
The Academy is best suited for young men and women aged 12 to 16 who are serious, dedicated players with at least some experience playing competitively. The program is eight weeks in length and will help players refine both the physical and mental aspects of their games. During the ATA, players will participate in drills, conditioning, matches, and individual- and small-group instruction that will focus on the following key areas:
- Technical improvements to stroke production
- Strengthening of mental and competitive attitudes
- Conditioning and physical training
- Singles and doubles concepts
- Match play and implementation of match tactics and strategies
During breaks from the action, participants can relax and enjoy ping-pong, nok hockey, and cards. The program will run from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM each day and will culminate in an exciting end-of-summer tournament.
Players interested in joining the program may be required to attend a 20- to 30-minute evaluation, during which time they will have the opportunity to demonstrate their skills on all major stokes. We will also be looking at players’ attitudes, with the goal of choosing players who are interested in learning, improving, and challenging themselves. If you have any questions or would like your child to be evaluated for the ATA, please click the link below.
This program focuses on working with each player individually or in small groups as much as possible. To ensure your child will receive the attention he or she deserves, the Academy limits the number of participants each summer. If you and your child are interested in the Academy, please contact us as soon as possible.
Once we have completed your child’s evaluation, we will advise you via email of whether he or she has been accepted. If your child is accepted, you’ll receive an invoice, which will need to be paid in order to reserve your child’s spot in the program.
- 2019 Program Dates: June 24 – Aug 16, 2019
